How this pickleball round robin generator works
This pickleball round robin generator arranges players into matches by round, assigns available courts and rotates sit-outs when the group cannot fill every court. Choose rotating-partner doubles for a social club format, fixed-team doubles for established teams, or singles.
Singles and fixed-team doubles use the circle method: one participant stays fixed while the others rotate. Rotating-partner doubles groups four players per court and aims to cycle partners before repeating. When the numbers do not permit a perfect rotation, the result says so and shows each player's sit-out count.
The score sheet is designed for common recreational scoring: games are often played to 11, win by 2. Some tournament matches use 15 or 21, win by 2. In doubles, record the serving score, receiving score and server number (1 or 2) when that scoring convention is used.
Matches per round = min(number of courts, floor(active players ÷ players per match)) Schedules are deterministic in your browser and are not saved. Confirm the format and scoring rules with your group before play.
Pickleball round robin FAQ
How many players can use this generator?
Use at least two players for singles and at least four for doubles. Add as many players as your courts and session can accommodate; extra players are rotated through sit-outs.
What is rotating-partner doubles?
It is the social club format: four players share a court, with partners changing between rounds. The generator aims to let players partner one another before repeating when the numbers allow it.
What does fixed-team doubles do?
It keeps each pair together and schedules matches between teams using the circle method. Fixed teams require an even number of players.
Why does the tool say a perfect rotation is not possible?
Courts, player counts and the selected format can leave unavoidable byes or repeated pairings. The tool rotates those byes as evenly as possible and shows the count for every player.
Can I print the score sheet?
Yes. Generate the schedule, then use your browser's print command. The schedule includes blank score fields and print styling.
